3D virtual rooms for Playspondent™ Playhouse for 2013

Watch this 1 min video to the left here to hear about the 3D rooms we’re working on. Hi everyone, Betty here. Thanks for coming to this page to hear about all the cool projects we’re working on right now (May 2012 is the time of writing). We have so much going on, it’s a wonder we get any sleep! We’re working on 3D rooms in our Playspondent™ Playhouse, a new database, of course I was working on this very website and we’re also developing the PlayBox AND designing for the Playspondent™ Playground for next year 2013. Phew! This is why we need more staff so if you want to help us out, please go to our careers page!

Miranda: Our Research Through Gaming Database – launching very soon!

In the beginning of May 2012, I turned to Oscar and said “I think we should give the database we’re building a name”. Oscar disagreed saying the Database didn’t need a name and that ‘database’ alone would suffice. I argued my point as usual. “Our programming engine has a name (it’s called the RES Engine) so why can’t our Database have a name?”At this point, Oscar seemed to have given up saying sarcastically “fine, let’s call it…Miranda.” And so, after a few seconds thought, Miranda it was. Perhaps the next versions of our Database will be called Charlotte, Carrie and Samantha. William Poynter from The Future Place is building our database as I type (it’s the 31st May) and doing a bloody good job of it. Having a database means we can do our own data collection and we don’t have to go to any third party supplier. We can do it all ourselves in-house, securely and with an efficient and simple infrastructure in place. It also means we have massive capacity and can take on multiple projects at the same time with hundreds of thousands of respondents. Miranda is also future-proofing Research Through Gaming for years to come.

The PlayBox: Our Interactive ‘mini-game’ Tools to be launched this year!

Back in the day, there used to be Flash tools but I’ve decided never to touch Flash. In fact, the only software we use which uses Flash is Prezi for our conferences and demos. I’ve designed a collection of interactive JavaScript tools which are being built right now to be used in surveys. These aren’t just your basic scale-sliders though, these interactive tools are mini-games, allowing the gamified experience to move away from the Playspondent™ Playhouse if needed, and have the PlayBox tools inserted in an online survey. Click here to be taken to the PlayBox page in this website.

Please go to our ‘In the Future’ page to find out what we’ll be working on next!
